Shooting Warm-up Routine
By Hal Wissel
Larry Bird, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Stephen Curry, Paul George and other great shooters have used a shooting warm-up routine before games. Here is the routine: Get on the court early before other players come out. Use a good passer to pass you the ball. Start close about nine feet (3 giant steps) from the backboard. Make five in a row than take a giant step back to 12 feet, Make five in a row then another giant step back to 15 feet or free throw line. Make five in row then another giant step back to 18 feet. Make five in row then another giant step back to 21 feet or high school 3 point line. Make five in row then step back to the college 3 point line or NBA 3 point line. At the final distance once you make five in a row you can keep shooting until you miss.
