Correcting Shots When Form Looks Good but Still Miss

Correcting shots when form looks good but still miss are listed below, along with suggested trigger word to correct this. Trigger words are positive words, preferably one syllable words, that you associate with the correct mechanics of your shot and reinforce rhythm and confidence.
Error: Your shot misses due to palm on ball, which causes lack of control.
Correction: Set your shooting hand on the ball so that you can fit a pen or finger between the ball and your palm. When shooting, release the ball off the pads of your index finger. Suggested trigger word is “Point!”

Error: Your shot misses due to watching flight of ball.
Correction: Focus on just over the front of the rim. Suggested trigger word is “Rim!”
