30 Second Workout Drill: Alternate-Hand Reverse Layup (Reverse Mikan Drill)
In this drill, you will alternate shooting right-handed and left-handed reverse layup shots. For the first shot, use your right hand. Start under the rim, facing the left sideline. Hold the ball with your right hand under the ball. Step with your left foot at a 45-degree angle with the backboard. Pivot toward the basket on the step and lift your right knee as you shoot a right-handed bank reverse layup, aiming for the high near corner of the box on the backboard. Catch the ball with two hands after either a made shot or a rebound. Now face the offensive right sideline. Hold the ball with your left hand under the ball. Step with your right foot at a 45-degree angle with the backboard. Pivot toward the basket on the step and lift your left knee as you shoot a left-handed bank reverse layup, aiming for the high near corner of the box on the backboard. Catch the ball with two hands after either a made shot or a rebound. Continue the drill, alternating between right-handed and left-handed reverse layups. Your goal is to make 20 reverse layups in 30 seconds. At the completion of the drill shoot two free throws.
